Commission for Women – Welcome!
We hope you will find all the information you need regarding the activities of the Commission and how it serves Catholic women of the Worcester, Massachusetts Diocese.
The Commission for Women of the Diocese of Worcester is an advisory group for the Bishop of Worcester, focusing on issues affecting women in the church and in society. The Commission has conducted a number of educational programs for Catholic women, and has directed studies on women’s issues in the Church and social justice issues.
The Commission’s main event is the “Gather Us In” Conference, which is held every other year at the DCU Center in Worcester. The highly successful bi-annual conference is designed to bring women of the Catholic faith together for a day of reflection, learning, discussion, and enlightenment, all in the service of enriching our spiritual lives. This has always been a very popular event, attracting approximately 800 women to each conference.
Our last conference, held in 2011, was entitled “Gratitude: Acknowledging and Affirming God’s Grace in Our Lives” and featured keynote presenters Liz Walker and singer/songwriter/poet Kathy Sherman.
The 2009 conference was entitled “The Triumph of Forgiveness: Sharing Stories of Compassion” with keynote speakers Paula D’Arcy and Immaculée Ilibagiza.
The “Gather Us In” Conference is the pioneering women’s conference in New England. Plans are underway for the next conference, scheduled for November of 2013.
The Commission for Women sponsors other activities such as Secretaries Day (a day of appreciation for our diocesan parish secretaries) and the Unity Breakfast, held in the ‘off years’ between conferences. You can find out more about other other activities here.
We welcome new members. If you are interested in serving the women of the diocese of Worcester through the Commission, please visit our Membership Page.
You can contact the Commission by writing to worcestercommissionforwomen@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Could you please send me any information of this year’s 2011 Women’s Conference to be held in Worcester? I believe it will be on Nov 5th, and 6th. Thank you
Linda Gerlip
We are formalizing our plans for the conference and the website will be updated within a week with more information on speakers, etc. When the update is completed, a mailing will be sent to everyone on our mailing list. Stay tuned . . .
I tried to send an email to landrys@stmaryparish.org to ask a few question about the Paula D’Arcy talks that will be given in Shrewsbury on 4/4 and 4/5. I got an error message back. Could you have this corrected on the advertisement and send me the correct address? I also tried to access your web site, but received a message that it no longer exists! Help!
Thank you,
Louise DeLellis
Try calling St. Mary’s at (508) 845-6341. Their website is http://www.stmarysparish.org/; just click on the CONTACT link for other contacts. But I would think calling would be best. Good luck!
Is the below conference date the upcoming conference in 2011?
“The “Gather Us In” Conference is the pioneering women’s conference in New England. Plans are underway for the next conference, scheduled for November 5, 2010.”
Thank you for pointing out that error. It should say November 5, 2011 and we have corrected that on the site.
